About Port Saint Lucie

Water Sports in Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Port Saint Lucie, Florida has grown into one of the state's most vibrant cities, and its waterfront is a major reason why. The Indian River Lagoon at Port Saint Lucie is wide, clear, and teeming with marine life — a perfect setting for jet ski rentals, boat rentals, and guided dolphin tours. Salty's Water Sports serves the Port Saint Lucie area with the same fleet of brand-new Sea-Doo GTX watercraft available at all our Treasure Coast locations.

Port Saint Lucie sits between Fort Pierce to the north and Stuart to the south, giving water sports guests access to a particularly long and diverse stretch of the Indian River Lagoon. The area is known for its excellent fishing, abundant wildlife, and the beautiful North Fork of the St. Lucie River, which winds through mangrove forests before joining the lagoon.

Best Time to Visit

Port Saint Lucie water sports are excellent year-round. The Indian River Lagoon at Port Saint Lucie is well-protected from ocean swells, making it one of the calmest riding environments on the Treasure Coast. Spring and fall are ideal for dolphin tours, while summer brings warm water perfect for swimming and snorkeling from a rented boat. The North Fork of the St. Lucie River is particularly beautiful in winter, when the mangroves are lush and manatees gather in the warm river water.

What to Expect

Your Port Saint Lucie water sports experience with Salty's begins at our lagoon-side dock. The wide, open waters of the Indian River Lagoon at Port Saint Lucie give jet ski riders plenty of room to open up the throttle on their Sea-Doo GTX. Boat rental guests can explore the lagoon's many islands, navigate up the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, or head south toward Stuart's beautiful waterfront. Guided dolphin tour guests will explore the most productive feeding grounds with our expert Port Saint Lucie captains.

💡 Local Tip

The mouth of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River is a manatee hotspot from November through March. Ask your guide to take you there — it's one of the most peaceful and beautiful spots on the entire Treasure Coast, and manatee encounters are almost guaranteed in winter.
