Do I need a boating license to do this tour?+
No — this is a fully guided tour. Your Salty's guide operates the lead jet ski and navigates the route. If you'd like to ride your own Sea-Doo alongside the guide, you'll need a Florida boating license (or complete our quick on-site test). Call us to discuss options.
Are alligator sightings guaranteed?+
While we can't guarantee wildlife sightings on any given day, our guides know exactly where alligators congregate on the St. Lucie River system. Sighting rates are very high — especially in the morning when alligators bask in the sun to warm up.
Is this tour safe? How close do you get to alligators?+
Yes, completely safe. We observe alligators from the water at a respectful distance — typically 15–30 feet. Alligators are wild animals and we never approach, feed, or disturb them. Our guides are trained in Florida wildlife safety protocols.
Is this tour only available at Sandpiper Bay?+
Yes — the Guided Gator & Wildlife Tour is exclusive to our Port Saint Lucie / Voco Sandpiper Bay location. The St. Lucie River system and surrounding marshes provide the ideal habitat for this experience.
Can children participate?+
Children are welcome as passengers on the jet ski with a parent or guardian. The tour moves at a moderate pace and the wildlife viewing is exciting for kids of all ages. Life jackets are provided in all sizes.
What time of day is best?+
Early morning (8–10 AM) is the best time for alligator sightings — they bask in the morning sun to regulate their body temperature. Late afternoon is also excellent for bird activity. We recommend booking the earliest available slot.
